Le Festival des Musiques Progressives de Montreal (FMPM) has announced that progressive rock band Renaissance will be forced to postpone the first nine dates of the first leg of their upcoming 2012-2013 Concert Tour.
According to the FMPM press release, Annie Haslam, the lead singer of Renaissance, has been diagnosed with a serious vertebral compression fracture and is required to wear a Jewett Back Brace for two to three months.
Annie Haslam’s doctors have prescribed a minimum two to three week abstention from all travel. As a result, Renaissance will be forced to postpone several concerts. The dates affected include the cancellation of the show on Thursday October 11 at the Gesu in Montreal (Canada). Refunds will be made via the point of purchase. Holders of tickets purchased via ProgQuebec need to mail their tickets to ProgresSon Music, 4342 Westmount Avenue, Westmount, Quebec, Canada H3Y 1W3, in order to receive a refund.
Ms. Haslam’s specialist has advised that she may begin performing live again starting with the group’s scheduled Friday, October 19th performance at the Ridgefield Playhouse in Ridgefield, onnecticut. Renaissance plans on rescheduling the cancelled shows sometime in 2013.
“I am very upset about having to postpone these shows,” commented Ms. Haslam. “We’ve all been so excited about bringing our classics to the fans as well as previewing material from the new studio album Grandine il Vento.” The group recently completed mixing their first new studio album in twelve years, which is expected to be released in early 2013.
Jerome Langlois, one of the founders of Quebec’s most prolific 1970s progressive groups, Maneige, and who was to be the opening act for Renaissance in Montreal, will be performing his own concert at the Gesu on Saturday November 24, 2012. Tickets for this show are currently on sale at www.progquebec.com, the Gesu box office and on www.admission.com.
