ProgDay 2014 announced today that Minneapolis progressive music band The Galactic Cowboy Orchestra will perform at this year’s festival. The Galactic Cowboy Orchestra’s influences include Bela Fleck, Frank Zappa and King Crimson.

The Galactic Cowboy Orchestra has been combining fusion, progressive and southern rock since 2009. On its latest recording, Zombie Mouth, the sound has expanded to include vocals.

Band members include Lisi Wright on violin, vocals; Dan Neale on guitars, vocals; John Wright on bass, vocals; and Billy Thommes on drums, percussion, vocals.

Past ProgDay attendees will remember THE GALACTIC COWBOY ORCHESTRA from its great pre-show performance in 2011. We’re very happy to bring GCO to the main stage in 2014.

The band’s discography includes Looking for a Little Strange (2009), All Out of Peaches (2011), Songs We Didn’t Write 1 (2011), Songs We Didn’t Write 2 (2011), and Zombie Mouth (2014)

The Galactic Cowboy Orchestra (United States) will join Luz De Riada (Mexico) and Kotebel (Spain) at ProgDay 2014. This will mark the 20th Anniversary of the longest running progressive rock festival in the world. ProgDay 2014 will take place on Saturday, August 30th, and Sunday, August 31st, at Storybook Farm in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
