Swiss-born keyboardist and composer Alex Carpani will be one of the international acts performing at the annual ProgDay progressive rok festival. ProgDay 2014 is scheduled for Saturday, August 30th, and Sunday, August 31st, at Storybook Farm in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

Alex Carpani is currently based in Italy. He started his musical career at an early age. Carpani has recorded dozens of albums of music, including self-released discs, electronic music, soundtracks and music for theater and multimedia. His breakthrough to progressive rock fans was his 2007 album Waterline.

While he recovered from a broken ankle, Carpani used the time to write, perform and record all the music for Waterline. Originally conceived as an instrumental album, by the time of its appearance in 2007, Waterline also included vocals by Aldo Tagliapetra (Le Orme) and a cover by graphic artist Paul Whitehead (Genesis, Van Der Graaf Generator, Le Orme). The album gained a lot of underground attention from symphonic rock fans. Waterline was followed by The Sanctuary in 2010 and 4 Destinies, released earlier this year.

Alex Carpani Band (Italy) will join Sensations’ Fix (Italy), Necromonkey (Sweden), The Galactic Cowboy Orchestra (US), Luz De Riada (Mexico) and Kotebel (Spain) at ProgDay 2014.
