Chick Corea & The Vigil to Perform at MIMO Festival 2014 in Ouro Preto and Olinda

Jazz fusion innovator, keyboard maestro and composer Chick Corea and his current electric band The Vigil are set to perform on August 29, 2014 at MIMO Festival 2014 in Ouro Preto at Praça Tiradentes at 22:00 (10:00 pm). He will later perform on September 4 at MIMO’s festival in Olinda at Praça Do Carmo at 22:00 (10:00 pm).

For nearly 50 years, Chick Corea has brought his unique style and creativity to all jazz styles. Corea is one of the most influent pianists and keyboard players of his generation, since Bill Evans. He will be starting his Brazilian tour at MIMO 2014 showcasing his new album, The Vigil, joined by young and talented musicians of his new band.

His new studio effort is already praised by critics as one of his most rich and creative works. The former frontman of Return to Forever and Elektric Band has strong connections with Brazilian music, has won 20 GRAMMY Awards (and almost 60 nominations) and three Latin GRAMMY Awards.

MIMO Festival 2014 presents some of the finest international acts in jazz, world music and classical. It takes place August 29-31 in Ouro Preto (Minas Gerais); September 4-7 at Olinda (Pernambuco); October 10-12 at Paraty (Rio De Janeiro State); and October 17-19 at Tiradentes (Minas Gerais).
