  1. How can you POSSIBLY leave Jordan Rudess off this list?
Hands down, THE most talented keyboardist today?

  2. We normally leave prog metal out of our polls, but Jordan Rudess has played with non metal acts so the inclusion of Mr. Rudess is legitimate and we have now added him to the list. As to being the most talented keyboardist, that’s up for debate.

  3. Seriously would like to know why Matt Brown of Heliopolis is not on the list. Just saw him play last night in Southern California with billy sherwood mixing Heliopolis, and a reunion of Gabble Ratchet. Matt was AWESOME and I have not been to as powerful of a concert in years and that includes Peter Gabriel and yes concerts. Matt is an amazing technician on the keys..one of the best in PROG for sure.

  4. Yes, Jeff! I was there, too! With *the* Billy Sherwood manning the sound board, that was an awesome show

(And I’ve got a pretty good idea who most those “other” votes are going to)

  5. How come Matt Brown when he was “Other” had over 150 votes and now he’s got his own vote area those votes haven’t been moved over?

  6. There’s an obvious keyboardist missing here: his name is Jason Hart. He’s played with Renaissance, Camel, Duncan Sheik, and various other projects (including his own project, I and THOU with Prog bassist, John Galgano!) – and all in the past year, too! How he was left off this list, I’ll never know… SMH.

  7. How come Ryo Okumoto from Spock’s Beard is not on this list? That’s a big omission.

  8. What about Neil Durant from IQ, fantastic player…big mistake not to be included

  9. Jem Godfrey (Frost*). Anyone who has seen him play (and all of the other keyboard players in the list) will know that, if this is about actual keyboard talent, he should be included in this poll.

  10. Need to add (at least) 2 more –
    Mark Kelley (Marillion, Dee Expus)
Dave Kerzner (ex-Thud, ex-Sound of Contact, The Dave Kerzner Band)

  11. Hi,I point out the the absence of keyboardist Maurizio Muha,of the “LOCANDA delle FATE” : should be possible to vote !

  12. What about Clive Nolan from Pendragon? I don’t know maybe there’s other players that can twidle their fingers faster but I love his sound. He should be on the list

  13. Well, since I didn’t make the list (LOL) I cast my vote for Bodin only because he’s my favorite. ALL of these guys are excellent. Hare deserves one also. OK I voted for a few more.

  14. How about Adam Rabin? Newcomer to the Prog World. Keyboardist, composer, songwriter for Elephants of Scotland 🙂

  15. You forgot one of the most important italian musician and keyboardist ever! Vittorio Nocenzi from Banco Del Mutuo Soccorso!!! He’s still active and is surely one of, or maybe even the, best keyboardist on progressive scene!

  16. No Andy Tillison on the list? Plenty of greats to choose from, of course, but Tillison ought to be one of the options.

  17. Ok, all these keyboardists have a right to be on this list, that’s why I think Luca Zabbini from Barock Project, which for me is italy’s best prog rock band of the present cannot be forgotten.

  18. There should be no “Other” results by now. What do you do in case that “artist” wins??

  19. “the inclusion of Mr. Rudess is legitimate and we have now added him to the list. As to being the most talented keyboardist, that’s up for debate.”

Seems pretty obvious by the votes that there is no debate. Rudess is the best.

  20. Sorry to be part of the “where is blah blah” crowd, but I think it is criminal to leave out Diego Tejeida (from Haken). That dude is constantly pushing and redefining the definition of prog-rock keyboards.

  21. All of this keyboard players are great, and I’ve already voted for Tom Galgano, but there are a couple of more that could be added: Andy Tillison (The Tangent) and Rikard Sjoblom (Beardfish).

  22. Ok, i saw that Andy is already in this list. But Rikard would be a great add, though.

  23. Okay… Jordan Rudess is my fav. But I’m surprised Derrick Sherinian and Michael Pinnella aren’t even on the list! Come on guys…

Also, didn’t see Tuomas Holopainen or Gary Wehrkamp

  24. I find it very hard to understand why Lars Fredrik Frøislie (Wobbler, White Willow, Tusmørke) has not been included.

  25. Jordan Rudess of course!! (Glad you put him in, it appears that some others might be glad too!!!)

  26. I think Geddy Lee should be in the list too, for he is not only a bassist bit a keyboardist too

  27. Maurizio Muha is a great artist and collegue. His tributo to Premiata Forneria Marconi was amazing!!

  28. Great list of Prog Keyboardist. Nice to see Erik Norlander here.He is a Great composer as he is a performer with it his owne music or with his wife Lane Laine as well as his time in ASIA with John Payne. His music is has had Keith Emerson aproveal …vote for Erik ..,

  29. I love John Evan, but isn’t he one of the 70’s masters this poll was trying to avoid? Another major oversight is Richard Barbieri (Japan, Porcupine Tree). Finally, all hail Rachel Flowers – if you haven’t heard her yet, you will.
