Hollan Holmes - Phase Shift

Hollan Holmes’ Spellbinding Electronic Atmospheres

Hollan Holmes – Phase Shift (2013)

Hollan Holmes has picked up the torch left by early Tangerine Dream and Steve Roach and delivers an exciting set of Berlin-school electronic pieces dedicated to American astronaut Neil Armstrong, who passed away in 2012.

Phase Shift begins with three shorter, dynamic, pieces where the dense electronic atmospheres are slowly and gradually joined by mesmerizing sequencers. Track 4, Morphonegenesis is an expansive piece with rich layers of hypnotic symphonic and drone synths. The last composition is the 32-minute Phase Shift, pure space music in the early Klaus Schulze style that morphs very slowly.

Hollan Holmes has been interested in electronic since the early 1980s, when he discovered Jean Michel Jarre, Tangerine Dream and, in the late 1980s, Steve Roach, Richard Burmer and others. Thanks to current technology, Holmes is able to create high quality music in an affordable home studio.

Phase Shift successfully transmits the spellbinding beauty of electronic space music.
