Coinciding with its recent tour, French progressive band released this new mini album titled Slag Tanz (pronounced schlag tanz). Magma’s sound is hard to classify. They invented a strain of progressive rock that has become known as Zeuhl. Slag Tanz is classic Magma in the sense that it features the familiar mix of male and female semi-operatic vocals, powerful drums, throbbing electric bass and a wild mix of jazz, rock and contemporary classical music.

Magma continues to sing in its own language, Kobaian as the title of the album and songs indicate: Imëhntösz – Alerte!, Slag, Dümb, Vers la nuit, Dümblaë – Le silence des mondes, Zü Zaïn!, Slag Tanz and Wohldünt.

The lineup on Slag Tanz includes Stella Vander on vocals; Isabelle Feuillebois on vocals; Hervé Aknin on vocals; Benoît Alziary on vibraphone; James Mac Gaw on guitar; Jérémie Ternoy on piano; Philippe Bussonnet on bass; and composer and lyricist Christian Vander on drums, piano, and vocals on “Wohldünt.”

Magma continues to break musical boundaries with its superb new mini album, Slag Tanz.
