Lucifer’s Friend was a well known German rock band in the early 1970s. The group featured a British-born vocalist and their style morphed throughout their various albums, ranging from hard rock and blues rock to psychedelia, progressive rock and even jazz fusion.

Awakening is a 2-disc set. Album 1 is a compilation with some of the group’s best known classic rock oriented songs. Disc 2 features four new songs recorded recently that connect easily with the band’s early sound.

The lineup on disc 1 includes John Lawton on vocals; Peter Hesslein on guitar; Dieter Horns on bass; Peter Hecht on keyboards; and drummers Addi Rietenback, Curt Cress and Herbert Bornholdt.

The band on the new tracks features many of the original musicians, including John Lawton on vocals; Peter Hesslein on guitar and keyboards, Dieter Horns on bass, and Stephan Eggert.

Awakening is great introduction to a great German band that became very influential in Central Europe and beyond.
