Progday 2015 Announces Three More Acts

Progressive rock festival ProgDay has announced the names of three additional bands scheduled to perform in the 2015 edition of the festival. The three groups include Quantum Fantay (Belgium), Marbin (USA/Israel) and Pascal Gutman Trio with Ramsés Luna and Kiko King (France/Mexico).

Belgian psychedelic space rock band Quantum Fantay is one of the leading acts in the genre. It was founded in 2002 when neighbors Pete Mush and Jaro began jamming in the attic, and were later joined by Gino Bartolini. Since then, Quantum Fantay has released 7 albums. The group’s most recent album is Terragaia.

 

 

Marbin is a an improvisational jazz fusion band created in 2007 as an improvised music duo consisting of Israeli guitarist Dani Rabin and Israeli saxophonist Danny Markovitch Slor. The two musicians moved to Chicago in 2008 and started working with Chicago musicians, touring extensively, playing over 300 shows a year. Marbin will be performing material from the new album to be released in late September. Marbin’s discography includes The Third Set, Last Chapter Of Dreaming, Breaking The Cycle and Marbin.

 

 

Pascal Gutman Trio combines jazz-rock, world music, ambient and experimental elements. Pascal Gutman started playing the piano and later moved to the bass. Pascal discovered the Chapman Stick in 1981 and currently composes and plays exclusively on the Stick. He he has become one of the leading performers of the instrument in France and has released 4 recordings in various configurations, from solo performances to quintets. This trio is the most recent incarnation of Pascal’s music.

 

 

Ramsés Luna has performed with various Mexican progressive rock and avant-garde bands, including Cabezas de Cera, Luz De Riada and is part of the collective Espacial Mexicano.

Kiko King was the drummer for Mexican progressive rock Cast. He released the album Stick Drum Duo with Pascal Gutman in 2012.

Thesethree bands will join Tryo (Chile), Jack O’ The Clock (US), Eccentric Orbit (US) and UT Gret (US) at ProgDay. The festival takes place on Saturday, September 5th, and Sunday, September 6th, 2015 at Storybook Farm in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
