Broekhuis, Keller & Schönwälder – Repelen – The last Tango (Manikin Records, 2014)
The torchbearers of the Berlin school of electronic music deliver an outstanding set of musical pieces. Broekhuis, Keller & Schönwälder recorded these tracks during concerts and rehearsals in Repelen during 2011 – 2013.
The pieces include a wide spectrum of musical influences, ranging from space and ambient music to trance-like Tangerine Dream-style sequences and slow evolving melodies. Two guests appear on the album, guitarist Raughi Ebert and violinist Thomas Kagermann.
The mix of electronics with string instruments works really well, especially Kagerman’s fiery violin solos.
