American progressive rock band Spock’s Beard has announced the release of its 13th studio album ‘Noise Floor’ for May 25th, 2018. Ted Leonard, Alan Morse, Dave Meros & Ryo Okumoto are joined in the studio once again by drummer and original member Nick D’Virgilio.
The band has launched the first single from the double album, the opening track ‘To Breathe Another Day’:
Lonely Robot, the project led by British producer, guitarist and singer-songwriter John Mitchell (It Bites, Frost*, Arena), has released a music video titled ‘In Floral Green.’ This song appears in the band’s second studio album ‘The Big Dream,’ released earlier this year. The features a guest appearance from Kim Seviour.
“In Floral Green is a song very dear to my heart,” says John Mitchell. “In addition to losing sight of the warmth of human connection we feel in the cold remoteness and social disconnect of the modern world, we as a species probably need to be around a lot less drab grey and a lot more rustic green. Many thanks to the little dark haired kid in the chorus for his tireless commitment to big 70s hair and throwing a ball around for our amusement.”
The Lonely Robotkive band includes John Mitchell, Craig Blundell on drums, Steve Vantsis on bass and Liam Holmes on keyboards.
Lonely Robot, has released a music video of Sigma, a track featured in the band’s second studio album ‘The Big Dream.’
Lonely Robot is the progressive rock project led by producer, guitarist and singer-songwriter John Mitchell (It Bites, Frost*, Arena).
Mitchell said about the song: “Sigma is the very last track I recorded for The Big Dream, the nature of which can be summed up with a sadly age old proverb which resonates now more than ever; History will teach us nothing“.
Renowned guitarist and composer Steve Hackett (formerly of Genesis) is set to release his latest album ‘The Night Siren’ on March 24th , 2017 through InsideOut Music (Sony). In the meantime, Hackett has released a brand new video for the album’s opening track ‘Behind The Smoke.’
“I’m thrilled with this video for the track ‘Behind the Smoke’ from my new album The Night Siren,” says Steve Hackett. “Director Ivan and the I-Code team have created an extraordinary film here resembling an epic movie! It perfectly matches the song, which laments the predicament of refugees throughout the ages. More compassion is needed in this world for those escaping persecution and death.”
‘The Night Siren’ is a wake-up call… the warning of a siren sounding in this era of conflicts and disagreement.
The album lineup includes Steve Hackett on guitar & vocals; Roger King on keyboards & programming; Nad Sylvan on vocals on Inca Terra; Rob Townsend on all things wind; Amanda Lehmann on vocals; Gary O’Toole on drums; and Benedict Fenner on additional keyboards & programming).

Acclaimed progressive rock musician Tim Bowness has released a music video with ‘You Wanted to Be Seen,’ the first track from his upcoming album, titled ‘Lost In The Ghost Light‘.
“You Wanted to Be Seen is about someone at their most weary and emotionally withdrawn,” says Tim Bowness. “It’s very much a self-reflective ‘dark night of the soul’ lyric.
Musically, it’s something of an extreme split between the reflective melancholy of the verses and the apocalyptic anger of the latter part of the song, which features some intense dueling guitar and violin parts from Bruce Soord and No-Man’s Steve Bingham.”
Echo Us, the genre defying project by multi-instrumentalist Ethan Matthews, has released its fourth animated music video “It’s Time for Winter”. The video is released coinciding with the winter solstice.
The single is the first Echo Us work to see release after the three-album “Trilogy Memoriam” concluded in 2014. As the project’s founder, Ethan Matthews is also celebrating his 15th year of creating and releasing music as Echo Us.
It’s Time for Winter welcomes the season with its light to dark metaphorical stanzas wrapped in quick-paced percussive bravado and guitar atmospheres. Echo Us as a musical project was conceived of during a two week commitment of its founder in a mental hospital 2001, and although the music has grown much brighter since that time there is also a tinge of unquiet in the new single.
“Echo Us music has grown more and more ‘content’ lyrically over the years, but certainly not less musically daring. That said, there are always two or three meanings wrapped into any piece of song material, and that is only coming from my perspective- the listener can make their own story,” says Matthews.
Echo Us will soon announce release plans for its 5th full-length album in 2017. The album is an effective ‘epilogue’ to the “Trilogy Memoriam” in that it features tracks that didn’t fit within that larger work mixed with some written after the trilogy’s close. “Although the album can be called an epilogue, it is absolutely its own work” says Matthews. “It’s Time For Winter and the other tracks fit together seamlessly like the trilogy releases, but I did not know where they fit into the bigger picture at the time of their composition; it was like plucking out things from the whole that didn’t quite fit before, but they fit together perfectly as this new album”.
It’s Time For Winter comes from the Tomorrow Will Tell The Story sessions. Echo Us will announce entire details on the new album and further video material in 2017.
