Esoteric Recordings has recently released a re-mastered and expanded version of the classic 1970 album “Daughter of Time” by British band Colosseum.
Originally released on the Vertigo label in December 1970, “Daughter of Time” was Colosseum’s third studio album, with a new lineup: Jon Hiseman on drums; Dave Greenslade on organ and vibes; Dick Heckstall-Smith on saxophones; Dave “Clem” Clempson on guitar, vocals; Mark Clarke on bass; and Chris Farlowe on lead vocals.
This new edition of “Daughter of Time” contains three bonus tracks recorded at Lansdowne studios in London in May 1970 and August 1971. The Esoteric Recordings edition fully restored the original album artwork. It includes an illustrated booklet with a new essay and exclusive interviews with Dave Greenslade and Clem Clempson.
American progressive rock and AOR band Kansas has announced the release of Leftoverture Live & Beyond (Inside Out Music). The album is scheduled for release November 3, 2017.
This is the first live album since 2009. It contains nineteen songs selected from twelve shows recorded during Kansas’ Spring 2017 Leftoverture 40th Anniversary Tour. The selection includes classic rock hits, new songs from 2016’s studio album “The Prelude Implicit,” and concludes with the “Leftoverture” album performed in its entirety.
The album will be available as a double CD digipak, four 180 Gram Vinyl boxed set, and digitally.

Italian progressive rock band Unreal City has a new album titled “Frammenti notturni”. Unreal City has performed at international prog rock festivals and has become one of the leading acts in the present Ialian scene.
The current line-up includes composer and lyricist Ema Tarasconi on keyboards and vocals; Francesca Zanetta on guitar; Dario Pessina on bass; and new drummer Marco Garbin. “Frammenti notturni”also features guest sappearances by Matteo Bertani on violin and Camilla Pozzi on vocals.
The album contains five long pieces, mixing brooding atmospheres with classic 1970s progressive rock.
Renowned Swedish progressive rockers Kaipa, led by Hans Lundin, has announced the release of its new album ‘Children of the Sounds’ for September 22nd, 2017. Kaipa’s current lineup includes Lundin, Per Nilsson (Scar Symmetry), Morgan Ågren (Karmakanic), Jonas Reingold (The Flower Kings, Karmakanic), Patrik Lundström (Ritual) & Aleena Gibson, plus a guest appearance from violinist Elin Rubinsztein.
Italian progressive music band Deelay has announced the release of its self-titled debut album on AMS Records. The Rome-based trio includes Dario Esposito (Il Balletto di Bronzo ) on drums, Federico Procopio on guitar and Roberto Lo Monaco on bass. The three artists are seasoned session musicians.
The band’s style is a mix of progressive rock, jazz-rock fusion, post rock and ambient textures.
Spanish progressive rock band Kotebel has announced the release of its new album titled Cosmology. The new recording will be available in early July.
Cosmology is dedicated to the musical representation of four concepts of the Cosmos. The album includes several parts of a cosmology suite and Cesar G. Forero’s “Mishima’s Dream.” Also featured, a remastered recreation of “Canto XXVIII,” a composition that Cesar wrote for Dante’s Paradiso, a concept album released in 2010 as part of Colossus’ Divine Comedy, a project that featured numerous progressive rock acts.
Bassist and singer-songwriter Roger Waters, one of the creative forces behind progressive rock band Pink Floyd, has announced the release of his first rock album in 25 years. Titled, “Is This The Life We Really Want?” (Columbia Records), the album will be released internationally on Friday, June 2, 2017. Water also announced a North American tour that will run from May through October, 2017.
The musicians that appear on “Is This The Life We Really Want?” include Roger Waters on vocals, acoustic guitar, bass, Nigel Godrich on arrangement, sound collages, keyboards, guitar, Gus Seyffert on bass, guitar, keyboards, Jonathan Wilson on guitar, keyboards, Joey Waronker on drums, Roger Manning on keyboards, Lee Pardini on keyboards, and Lucius on vocals with Jessica Wolfe and Holly Proctor.
ClassicOrme is a recreation with classical music instruments of some of the most iconic songs of Italian progressive symphonic rock band Le Orme.
The song selection includes Gioco di bimba, Una dolcezza nuova, La porta chiusa, Storia o leggenda and several more.
The vocal parts will be performed by tenor Eero Lasorla (Finland) and soprano Marta Centurioni (Italy). The instrumental sections a string quintet with 2 violins, viola, cello and double bass plus a classical pianist.
This album will be a numbered limited edition of 1000 units.
Italian progressive rock band Accordo dei Contrari has a new album titled Violato intatto. The band added saxophonist Stefano Radaelli and the album features guests such as Alessandro Bonetti of Deus Ex Machina.
The new album features a mix of rock and jazz and was recorded live in the studio with few overdubs.
