Dark progressive rock band L’albero del veleno has a new album titled “Tale of a Dark Fate.” The Italian band is deeply inspired by horror movies from the 1960s through the 1980s and Italian bands like Goblin and various Italian horror film composers.
The current lineup includes Nadin Petricelli on keyboards; Lorenzo Picchi on guitars; Michele Andreuccetti on bass; and Marco Brenzini on flute.
American avant-garde progressive rock band Inner Ear Brigade has a new album titled Dromology.
The album features Bill Wolter on guitar; Chris Lauf on drums; Stephen Wright on bass; Melody Ferris on vocals; Ivor Holloway on tenor, alto and soprano saxophone; Eli Wallace on keyboards; Theo Padouvans on trumpet; Andrew Vernon on keyboards; David Shaff on trumpet; and Aheron Wheels Bolsta on tabla.
British label Esoteric Recordings has announced the release of “Sleeping for Years,” a 4-CD boxed of music by proto-progressive rock band Atomic Rooster. The collection comes in a clamshell packaging featuring all the recordings made by Atomic Rooster on the classic albums Atomic Rooster, Death Walks Behind You, In Hearing of Atomic Rooster, Made In England and Nice n’ Greasy aas well as singles “Tomorrow Night” and “Devil’s Answer.”
Atomic Rooster was formed by former Crazy World of Arthur Brown members Vincent Crane and Carl Palmer. Their self-titled first album was recorded in 1970 with Nick Graham on bass, vocals & flute, but the band soon fractured when Carl Palmer departed to join Emerson Lake and Palmer. In his place came Paul Hammond on drums and guitarist and vocalist John Du Cann. This line-up recorded the successful hit singles Tomorrow Night & Devil’s Answer and the album Death Walks Behind You in 1971. Later that year, vocalist Pete French was added to the their line-up for the classic album In Hearing of Atomic Rooster.
Covering every track released by the band in the 1970s, Sleeping For Years is a newly re-mastered collection and also features six rare alternate versions and demos.
The boxed set includes an illustrated booklet with a new essay by Malcolm Dome featuring exclusive interviews with Nick Graham, Pete French, Steve Bolton and Chris Farlowe.
Cuneiform Records has announced the release of the first ever Art Zoyd box set. The collection titled Art Zoyd, 44 ½ years of music will be available November 24th, 2017.
Art Zoyd is a highly influential French progressive rock band. They are part of a subgenre known as RIO (Rock In Opposition), a set of artists that play avant-garde rock influenced by progressive rock experimentalists such as Magma as well as contemporary classical music composers.
The boxed set contains 8 CDs of live recordings covering the years 1972-2004 and four CDs of studio recordings, sketches and outtakes from 1980-2005. There are also two DVDs, one is comprised of historical television appearances from the late 1970s into the end of the 1980s and the other DVD disc includes the entire performance of Art Zoyd’s celebration at the RIO Festival.
The box and all elements were designed by British graphic artist Max Franosch.
Guitar maestro John McLaughlin and his band 4th Dimension have a new live album recorded at Ronnie Scott’s. The band will touring the United States and Mexico in November and December 2017.

Esoteric Recordings has recently released a re-mastered and expanded version of the classic 1970 album “Daughter of Time” by British band Colosseum.
Originally released on the Vertigo label in December 1970, “Daughter of Time” was Colosseum’s third studio album, with a new lineup: Jon Hiseman on drums; Dave Greenslade on organ and vibes; Dick Heckstall-Smith on saxophones; Dave “Clem” Clempson on guitar, vocals; Mark Clarke on bass; and Chris Farlowe on lead vocals.
This new edition of “Daughter of Time” contains three bonus tracks recorded at Lansdowne studios in London in May 1970 and August 1971. The Esoteric Recordings edition fully restored the original album artwork. It includes an illustrated booklet with a new essay and exclusive interviews with Dave Greenslade and Clem Clempson.
American progressive rock and AOR band Kansas has announced the release of Leftoverture Live & Beyond (Inside Out Music). The album is scheduled for release November 3, 2017.
This is the first live album since 2009. It contains nineteen songs selected from twelve shows recorded during Kansas’ Spring 2017 Leftoverture 40th Anniversary Tour. The selection includes classic rock hits, new songs from 2016’s studio album “The Prelude Implicit,” and concludes with the “Leftoverture” album performed in its entirety.
The album will be available as a double CD digipak, four 180 Gram Vinyl boxed set, and digitally.

Italian progressive rock band Unreal City has a new album titled “Frammenti notturni”. Unreal City has performed at international prog rock festivals and has become one of the leading acts in the present Ialian scene.
The current line-up includes composer and lyricist Ema Tarasconi on keyboards and vocals; Francesca Zanetta on guitar; Dario Pessina on bass; and new drummer Marco Garbin. “Frammenti notturni”also features guest sappearances by Matteo Bertani on violin and Camilla Pozzi on vocals.
The album contains five long pieces, mixing brooding atmospheres with classic 1970s progressive rock.
Renowned Swedish progressive rockers Kaipa, led by Hans Lundin, has announced the release of its new album ‘Children of the Sounds’ for September 22nd, 2017. Kaipa’s current lineup includes Lundin, Per Nilsson (Scar Symmetry), Morgan Ågren (Karmakanic), Jonas Reingold (The Flower Kings, Karmakanic), Patrik Lundström (Ritual) & Aleena Gibson, plus a guest appearance from violinist Elin Rubinsztein.
Italian progressive music band Deelay has announced the release of its self-titled debut album on AMS Records. The Rome-based trio includes Dario Esposito (Il Balletto di Bronzo ) on drums, Federico Procopio on guitar and Roberto Lo Monaco on bass. The three artists are seasoned session musicians.
The band’s style is a mix of progressive rock, jazz-rock fusion, post rock and ambient textures.
