Sons of Venus - Crisis to Crisis

Psychedelic Rock Band Sons of Venus Roll Out Crisis to Crisis

US-based psychedelic progressive rock band Sons of Venus has released a mesmerizing and trancy new album titled “Crisis to Crisis.” This is the band’s third studio album. Notably, John Sully, the mastermind behind the band’s compositions, set up his home studio and laid down all the vocals, guitars, and keyboards himself. Then he sent those tracks to Ruslan Baimurzin and Igor Reznik, and they dove right in, adding their own flavors through some serious overdubbing. The band’s sound is characterized by the skillful use of spellbinding delays and feedback.

The group was formed when John Sully, a performance and sound artist from New York City, crossed paths with Kazakhstani drummer and pianist Ruslan Baimurzin at an East Village after hours jam. Their musical connection was instantaneous. Ruslan invited Sully to jam on guitar with bassist Igor Reznik and Sons of Venus was born.

The album’s theme is inspired by the never-ending stream of calamities our world faces, amplified by the relentless bombardment of global news from corporate media giants. Songs like “Living in Blood,” “World on Fire,” and “Dead Languages” take the listener on a precarious journey through a dystopian landscape, shaped by the geopolitical rivalries vying for world domination.

Musicians: Ruslan Baimurzin on drums; Igor Reznik on bass; and composer and producer John Sully on vocals, guitars, and keyboards.
