In May, the space rockers released their 13th record, titled Phaze your Fears on their Space Rock Productions label (SRP006). It featured once more the well-known Danish guitarist, Claus Bøhling from the bands Hurdy Gurdy, Secret Oyster and Elektrum on the B-side. It was a limited edition pressed on vinyl, with artwork by Ed Unitsky.
The West, Space and Love vinyl record (SRP005) was released in April. Only 200 copies (110 hand painted) were made. This was a more laid back acoustic project recorded in a weekend in 2009 with two of the members of Siena Root. It will be re-pressed in 300 copies this summer with one of the best painted covers.
The band was in the studio at the end of April to record material for its next studio releases in 2013. This was a 2 day session with all the members from Papir, Daniel Lars (Colorado), Par (The Carpet Knights) and Mogens and Dr Space on synthesizers. “We recorded about 6hrs of dynamic guitar and space rock with lots of amazing leads,” said the band. “We are in the process of mixing it now. You can hear some recordings from inside the playing room at our web site under the sessions frame.”
On the live scene, Øresund Space Collective played several concerts in the Copenhagen area including a 4 hour concert for the Phaze your Fears release party at Dragens Hule. The band will do its first proper tour in October 13-20th with confirmed gigs in Zagreb, Belgrade, Sofia, Salzburg, and Würzburg. Two other gigs are in the works. They will also play in Malmö, Sweden on June 28th and the Kildemose Festival in Denmark on Aug 5th.
