Winnipeg-based instrumental progressive music band Mahogany Frog has a new album titled Senna by Mahogany Frog. This is its sixth full-length release. Senna by Mahogany Frog features soaring synthesizer soundscapes, waves of blistering guitar feedback and sound-art segments consisting of field recordings, tape collages and analog electronically-generated sounds.
Mahogany Frog is comprised of four multi-instrumentalists and based out of Winnipeg, (Manitoba, Canada). Their music draws from a wide range of influences such as: ghostly 20th century classical music, 1950s lounge and exotica, 1960s psychedelia, 1970s progressive rock, kraut-rock, fusion, contemporary electronica and ambient/experimentalism.
The band uses a large array of keyboards, guitar, bass, drums and walls of electronics. Their pieces are dynamic, multi-layered songs which explore tone, mood and composition.
