British experimental rock band Guapo is scheduled to release a new album titled History of the Visitation. The quartet’s sound is based around ideas of controlled chaos, atonal harmony, uplifting darkness, and beautiful destruction.
History of the Visitation is the ninth recording by the band. The album includes a principal 26-minute track titled “The Pilman Radiant.” Other pieces are the 11-minute expedition “Tremors from the Future” and the compact sonic sculpture titled “Complex #7.”
The current lineup includes drummer and founding member David J. Smith with mainstays Kavus Torabi (Cardiacs, Knifeworld) on guitar and James Sedwards (Nøght) on bass, joined by recent addition Emmett Elvin (Chrome Hoof, Knifeworld) on keyboards.
In addition to the new studio album, both the CD and LP versions include a live DVD of the group from their 2006 and 2007 USA and European tours. This is the only live footage of the band available to the public and features former member Daniel O’Sullivan.
