DJ Sun, an essential beatmaker in the Houston (Texas) has released an album titled One Hundred. DJ Sun is known for creating a tasty mix of genres, blending funk, soul, jazz, disco, early hip-hop, global music and trip hop al clubs.
The album features 18 engaging tracks, with DJ Sun on samplers and keyboards. He also mixes in live instrumentation and singing provided by various Houston artists. On 100, DJ Sun incorporates a multitude of influences and samples, with an emphasis on trip hop, electrofunk, global electronica, and lounge.
Tim Ruiz (La Mafia) engineered the album and provided guitar, bass, keyboards. Other guests include E’s E from Names You Can Trust out of Brooklyn; Meghan Hendley, Mark Sound (aka Mark Speer), and Jessica Zweback, who played keyboards on “Break Remix,” “Marksonthekeys,” and “Ten.”
For the lead single of “Heart Seed feat Leah Alvarez,” DJ Sun invited fellow producer and DJ, The Are to do a hip-hop styled boom-bap type of remix.
One Hundred is a splendid mix of hybrid beats, samples and live instrumentation.
