Electronic music icon Steve Roach is celebrating the 30th anniversary of his landmark album Structures From Silence with a new remastered edition. Structures From Silence is a genuine masterpiece; a seminal album that has inspired numerous listeners, and lived on in permanence throughout the decades. The album’s breathing; suspended embrace of atmospheres and tranquil melodies instantly struck a chord with listeners in 1984, and continues to reiterate its timeless resonation with new listeners today.
For the 30th anniversary of this essential release, the original analog reel was carefully pulled from the archives, and a new 24-bit/96k transfer was made directly from the source recordings. From there it was handed over to Spotted Peccary’s Howard Givens, whose passion for this timeless album, coupled with a long-standing friendship with Roach, made this a deeply meaningful project. Givens, who masters 24/96k releases for Spotted Peccary on a regular basis, is no stranger to the delicate precision of high definition mastering, and the result here a 24-bit/96k remaster of Structures From Silence that reveals the quality and subtle tonal detail not heard since the 1984 vinyl release.
