The ProgDay 2014 Preshow will take place at Local 506 in Chapel Hill on Friday night, August 29. Three bands are scheduled to perform:
Triplicity – Consisting of long-established musicians from the Triangle (Durham-Chapel Hill-Raleigh) music scene, Frank Alexander (bass), Bongo John Metcalf (percussion), and Yontz Sucre (guitar) form Triplicity. The group mixes fusion and progressive rock, offering a genre-defying instrumental collaboration emphasizing experimentation, polyrhythm, melodicism, and the vibe of a raging rock show.

The MPS Project – Led by Michael Pelz-Sherman, the MPS Project is a group of veteran musicians from the Triangle area of North Carolina, dedicated to creating original, progressive jazz. Their music explores the intersections of jazz, progressive rock, and 1970’s-style fusion in the tradition of Return To Forever and Weather Report.

Jonn Buzby will be known to many ProgDay festivalgoers through his bands Land Of Chocolate, Damn Fine Coffee, and Finneus Gauge. John will be doing a solo performance featuring both new material and old favorites.
