Guitarist Rez Abbasi will be touring the West Coast of the United States in support of his new CD titled Intents and Purposes.
The new recording re-imagines 1970s jazz-rock classics such as Weather Report’s “Black Market,” Tony Williams’ “There Comes a Time,” Herbie Hancock’s “Butterfly” and Pat Martino’s “Joyous Lake.” Abbasi extracts the essential elements of these jazz-rock classics and transforms them into acoustic pieces.
Abbasi’s renowned group, Raaq, includes Bill Ware on vibes; Stephan Crump on acoustic bass; and Eric McPherson on drums.
