Looking Backward (2013)
Storm Chronicles defines itself as a pop band with progressive rock influences. The new album Looking Backward begins with a short instrumental cinematic piece titled ‘Still Breathing’ that recalls some of Pink Floyd’s work.
The modern keyboard-laced pop begins with track 2 and continues through track 7. The last piece starts with a Floydian ambient section and later shifts toward pop vocals and progressive metal riffs.
The Storm Chronicles was founded by David Burr. He began his career as a keyboardist and rhythm guitarist performing in various cover bands at the age of 18. Jody Dietz joined forces with Burr in 2011 to develop The Storm Chronicles further.
The lineup on Looking Backward includes David Burr on keyboards, guitars, samples, drums, bass and vocals; Jody Dietz on vocals; and guest Sal Salomone on rhythm guitar.
