La Nuova Raccomandata con Ricevuta di Ritorno, a new incarnation of the legendary Italian progressive rock group Raccomandata con Ricevuta di Ritorno, has a new album titled Live in Elba.
In 2013, several progressive rock artists got together to celebrate the life of Pino “Trick” Catanzaro, a popular figure who grew up in Elba and was a long-time friend of musician and painter Luciano Regoli. The celebration took place at Teatro Napoleonico dei Vigilanti in Portoferraio, featuring two of Italy’s leading bands; La Maschera di Cera and La Nuova Raccomandata con Ricevuta di Ritorno.
On Live in Elba, the lioneup of La Nuova Raccomandata con Ricevuta di Ritorno includes historical members Luciano Regoli and Nanni Civitenga joined by some of the best musicians in today’s Italian jazz-rock scene such as Andy Bartolucci (drums & percussions), Maurizio Pariotti (keyboards, piano, programming), Cristina Cioni (choir, backing vocals), Bruno Previtali (guitars), Alessandro Tomei (flute, tenor sax). The repertoire includes material from the classic debut “Per… un mondo di cristallo” and the recent “Il Pittore Volante“, two releases divided by nearly 40 years, but joined by the same unmistakable italian progressive flavor.
Live in Elba includes live photos taken during the concert, a short story by Luciano Regoli about the old days between the 1960s and 1970s, and the adventures of the young Regoli and his friend “Trick”.
The CD version features bonus tracks “La spiaggia” from “Il Pittore Volante” and the cover songs of “Babe I’m gonna leave you” (Led Zeppelin), “Fire” (Arthur Brown) and “If six was nine” (Jimi Hendrix), this last one played by the opening group Four Jumps in Pot with Luciano Regoli singing with them.
