Iconic French progressive band Magma will be touring North America in April 2015. Formed in 1969 by Christian Vander, inspired by a “vision of humanity’s spiritual and ecological future” the group is well known for having started a new subgenre within progressive rock, a music style called Zeuhl. Magma’s vocalists sing in their self-invented language, known as Kobaïan, in which the group interweaves ancient and apocalyptic tales.
Magma’s latest album is Slag tanz. Some of their most iconic releases include Mekanik Destruktiw Kommandoh, Live 1975, Udu Wudu, and Kohntarkosz. The moderately priced boxed set Trilogy contains Magma Live/Hhai (1975), Udu Wudu (1976), and Attahk (1978).
“Magma is happy to return to the United States to play for Americans,” says Magma’s founder Christian Vander. “We know you are passionate, respectful and curious about music. We find you to be generous and open. It will be a joy for us to see you this year.”
