New York Minute (Primary Purpose, 2015)
Celebrated vocalist and bassist John Wetton delivers an intimate live performance made at the Iridium club in New York City in 2013. Although most of us identify Wetton as a member of classic King Crimson and the fabulous progressive rock band UK, as well as pop band Asia, on New York Minute he focuses on rock and soul classics, performing well-known classics by Steely Dan, Jimi Hendrix, Marvin Gaye, The Beatles and others.
New York Minute features the Les Paul Trio with Nikki Parrott on bass, Rodney Holmes on piano, and Lou Pallo on guitar.
Definitely not progressive rock but it’s interesting to experience Wetton’s versions of popular hits from the 1970s as well as acoustic versions of two of his songs.
