Robert John Godfrey
The Art Of Melody (Operation Seraphim RJGCD01, 2013)
Progressive rock keyboardist and composer Robert John Godfrey is well known as the founder of one of the finest symphonic rock bands of all time, The Enid. The Art Of Melody is the first of a series of romantic neoclassical music for piano and orchestra.
Fans of The Enid albums will recognize the unmistakable English symphonic flavor that characterizes Robert John Godfrey’s music. This album only features piano and symphonic keyboards on most tracks. There are no drums, guitar or bass on the first six pieces. The last two tracks feature The City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.
Robert John Godfrey’s music is at times romantic, bittersweet and peaceful. But on other occasions, the sound is very intense and quite dramatic.
Whether you are a progressive rock fan or a classical music aficionado, you will find Robert John Godfrey’s masterful romantic piano music satisfying and full of beauty.
