Kermit
Litoral (Itaca Records, 2014)
This excellent instrumental group from Malaga in southern Spain performs a mesmerizing form of progressive rock, featuring space rock and post rock elements. The emphasis on their second album titled Litoral is more on the progressive side, with jam-like spacey progressions featuring dual soaring psychedelic guitars, spoken word, jazz beats, electronica and special effects.
The lineup includes Gonzalo Presa on guitars, drums, sampler and vocals; Miguel Seguí on guitars, synth and sampler; Francisco Trujillo on electric bass and spoken word; and Álvaro Parada on drums, saxophone and vocals.
Kermit was created in the summer of 2010 in Málaga by former members of various local bands such as Parcel, White Coffee, Seattle Apples and Satélites. The musicians were inspired by Radiohead, progressive-era Pink Floyd and other bands as well as literature. The group’s debut album is Autoficción (Itaca Records, 2012)
Litoral is a splendid recording, featuring bewitching trance-like explorations and masterful dual guitar interplay.
