Djam Karet – A Sky Full Of Stars For A Roof (H C Productions, 2019)
Djam Karet is one of the longest running progressive rock bands in the United States. The band’s sound has morphed throughout the years and that progression continues. On A Sky Full Of Stars For A Roof, the band combines edgy spacey and trancy electronics with American West Coast psychedelic rock, acoustic Americana and world music.
A Sky Full Of Stars For A Roof is melodically accessible and groundbreaking as well. It features analog and modular synths, a wide range of acoustic instruments from around the globe, and electric guitars.
The artists on the album include Gayle Ellett on harmonium, dilruba, acoustic and electric guitars, 8 and 4 string tenor ukulele, vibraphone, viola, Greek bouzouki, EBow, acoustic bass, analog synthesizer, Hammond organ, Mellotron choir, gopichand, tar, mbira, wooden flutes, surmandal, tanpura, cumbus, congas, udu, karkabas, tambourine, bicycle bell, and field recordings; Mike Henderson on electric guitar, 12-string acoustic guitar, slide guitar, synthesizers; Chuck Oken Jr. on analog and digital keyboard sequencing and soundscapes, drums; Henry Osborne on bass; and Mike Murray on acoustic guitar and electric mandocello.
