Traumhaus – Die Andere Seite (Progressive Promotion Records, 2014)
This is the 2014 edition of the album Die Andere Seite, originally released in 2008. The new version was remastered and contains two bonus tracks.
German band Traumhaus plays progressive symphonic rock with hard and heavy rock elements. Unlike most other German bands in the genre, Traumhaus sings in German, which gives it a special flavor.
What stands out is the keyboard work of composer Alexander Weyland, who delivers exquisite mellotron goodness and synth work, and the creative drums of Hans Jörg Schmitz. The guitars are a mixed bag. Very good at times when Tobias Hampl focuses of solos and soaring guitars. Boring and tiresome when he goes into heavy mode riffing.
Personnel: Alexander Weyland on vocals, keyboards and loop programming; Tobias Hampl on electric and acoustic guitars, bass; Hans Jörg Schmitz on drums, effects and additional drum loops; and Jordan H. Gazall on bass. Guests: Jimmy Keagan on drums and Sebastian Klein on bass.
