Diasporas, an album of tape loop experimental music by Ghédalia Tazartès is available once more. Originally recorded in 1977 and released in 1979, Diasporas, introduced listeners to Tazartès avant-garde sound.
Tazartès used tape loops to capture the disappearing traditions of his family’s past. He developed atmospheric textures and manipulated vocal experiments.
Born in Paris in 1947 to Judeo-Spanish parents of Greek descent, Tazartès spent his early career as an autodidact utilizing his knowledge of repetition and collage, coupled with his Ladino linguistic heritage, to create unique recordings.
The new edition on Dais Records is newly remastered by Josh Bonati. It features the original artwork of Diasporas.
