One of Spain’s leading progressive electronic music artists, Juan Manuel Cidrón, will be performing music from his new album Los Conciertos que Nunca se Hicieron (The Concerts That Never Happened). The music was inspired by the concerts he has scheduled that were later cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The concert will take place on November 4, 2020 at 21:00 (9:00 p.m.) Central European Standard Time at La Casa Encendida in Madrid. The concert will include a live audience reduced to 30% due to pandemic restrictions and will be available via streaming.
Juan Manuel Cidrón is a veteran Spanish electronic talent since the early 1980s, when he began his career in his native Almería in southeastern Spain. His work is based on the sound of modular synthesizers and an impressive array of analog instruments, which makes up one of the best collections in the country. In his early years he was deeply influenced by the cosmic and floating music pioneers of the Berlin School of the 1970s, such as Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schülze and Ash Ra Tempel.
Cidrón’s extensive career is difficult to follow because his line of work is very independent. He releases many of his albums on his own label and has a special connection with the Madrid label Geometrik, where he released the masterful album Patagón.
Since last year he has been part of the Vértice trio with Saverio Evangelista (Esplendor Geométrico) and the legendary Italian musician Maurizio Bianchi. With them he inaugurated the Decay Music series on the prestigious Milan label Die Schachtel.
