Turkish psychedelic music pioneers Moğollar have released a new music video titled “Haliç’te Güneşin Batışı D2D Session.” The track is a single from its upcoming album ‘Anatolian Sun.’ Moğollar combines psychedelic rock with Turkish music influences.
“Haliç’te Güneşin Batışı” was originally released as a single in 1970 and was sampled by J Dilla on the intro to his 2001 debut album ‘Welcome 2 Detroit’. The new 2020 trippy version of the single features organs along with deep bass and washed-out guitars.
Moğollar was formed in 1967 with keyboardist Murat Ses as leader. Moğollar were the original Anadolu psychedelia originators. They were the first Turkish rock band who mixed the microtonal folklore and traditional instruments of rural Anatolia with Western rock. They were the first Turkish psychedelic band to achieve overseas recognition, winning the prestigious French Grand Prix Du Disque in 1971 after a period in Paris.
The current lineup includes Cahit Berkay on yaylı tambur; Emrah Karaca on vocals; Serhat Ersöz on keyboards; Taner Öngür on bass and vocals; Kemal Küçükbakkal on drums; and Ümit Adakale on bendir.
