American masters of jazz funk and fusion Snarky Puppy have won the 2021 Best Contemporary Instrumental Album Grammy for “Live at the Royal Albert Hall.”
“This album was a labor of love on all fronts and we couldn’t be more excited for our Snarky Puppy family,” said the band’s press release.
Snarky Puppy has built its fanbase on relentless touring and has grown to become one of the most well-known figures in the jazz world. The band booked and sold out the 5,500 capacity venue at the Royal Albert Hall.
Lucy Noble, Artistic and Commercial Director at the Royal Albert Hall said: “We’re so thrilled and honored to be a part of a Grammy-winning album, which heralds the return of live music to the UK as we mark our 150th anniversary. Live recordings have been a cornerstone of our history, from Peter Whitehead’s ground-breaking Led Zeppelin film in 1970, to Adele’s record-breaking debut in 2011. We’re so proud to add Snarky Puppy’s Grammy win to that legacy.”
