Osanna – Il Diedro del Mediterraneo (MaRaCash Records, 2021)
Il Diedro del Mediterraneo presents the reincarnation of Osanna, one of Italy’s finest progressive rock bands of all times. The group released the masterpiece “Palepoli”, one of the best Italian albums of the 1970s.
Band founder LIno Vairetti put the original band back together for Il Diedro del Mediterraneo and it is a mixed bag. Unfortunately, the current Osanna lacks the magic it had in the 1970s. Although it includes some progressive rock leaning songs, the sound is much more pop-oriented, featuring several sappy ballads and toe tapping blues and hard rock songs.
The album comes together with a DVD featuring the film Osannaples by directed by M. Deborah Farina.
The lineup includes Lino Vairetti on vocals, acoustic guitar, harmonica, spoken word; Gennaro Barba on drums; Pako Capobianco on electric and acoustic guitars; Enzo Cascella on bass; Sasà Priore on piano, organ, synthesizer; and Irvin Vairetti on vintage keyboards, vocals.
