Sarah Perrotta – Blue to Gold (7D Media/Third Star Records)
Blue to Gold is the fourth album from singer-songwriter and piano player Sarah Perrotta. The album was produced by acclaimed multi-instrumentalist bassist Jerry Marotta. Marotta brought in big names from the progressive rock world, and other genres. However, Perrotta performs beautifully constructed dream pop songs with captivating lush vocals.
Although I do not review pop albums on a regular basis, this recording has charm, gorgeous vocals and fascinating arrangements that make it stand out.
Sarah describes the meaning behind her new album, “To transform struggle into something of value and beauty. The songs are each like a prayer or meditation for me based on relationships and life experience. Topics include the awe and selflessness of parenthood, transition, embracing our primitive dark side, rising above conflict, not wanting a good thing to end, being open to following dreams, finding unity amid misunderstanding, a tribute to a friend who died suddenly, to live life fully and the cyclical beauty of it all.”
