Producer and musician Billy Sherwood has led the massive supergroup The Prog Collective through 10 years and 3 studio albums with an ever-evolving cast of over 50 top musicians, vocalists, and creative minds. The latest project is titled “Songs We Were Taught”.
As the title indicates, Sherwood and his colleagues travel back in time to recreate influential songs of the 1960s and 1970s. The selection includes Bob Dylan’s “The Times They Are A-Changin’” to Simon & Garfunkel’s unforgettable classic “Sound Of Silence” to the folk standard-turned-chart-topping hit “House Of The Rising Sun”.
Although the material on “Songs We Were Taught” is not immediately associated with the kind of progressive rock, classic rock and AOR players featured on Prog Collective albums, the artists give these songs a fascinating new life.
“Songs We Were Taught” will be released on all formats, including CD, vinyl and digital on July 1, 2022.
