Hessdalen Light, a project conceived by talented guitarist Tanner Thornton in the early months of 2015, has released a new single and music video titled “Khajiit Has Wares, If You Have Coin.” The instrumental piece is designed to transport the listener into the vibrant realm of Elsweyr.
In 2015, Thornton was engaged in the pursuit of a mechanical engineering degree at the University of Florida. Fascinated by the boundless creative latitude that instrumental progressive rock music afforded, Thornton endeavored to transcend the boundaries of his humble bedroom project. For this reason, he embarked upon a resolute voyage of artistic expression, eventually culminating in the release of his musical compositions in the form of EPs.
The band says about this track: “It was the 4th song written for our upcoming album, but it really stuck with us, so we decided to prioritize it as a standalone single. The song is structured in true prog fashion, where each part flows independently into the next and no parts repeat. This creates a fun, adventurous type of experience for the listener as they journey through it. We also tried out some new delays and other modulation effects on this song, and intend to showcase that newer style throughout the rest of the album.“
Although Hessdalen Light started as a conventional manifestation of math rock, the ensemble’s recent artistic evolution has witnessed a notable departure toward the expansive sonic landscape inherent to progressive rock.
The lineup includes Tanner Thornton on guitar; Zephaniah Stake on drums; and Antonio Guzmán on bass.
