Alco Frisbass – Alco Frisbass (Fading Records, 2015)
Alco Frisbass was the first album by a truly superb French progressive rock band called Alco Frisbass. If you miss the groundbreaking sound of Canterbury-style Hatfield and the North and National Health, Alco Frisbass is a real treat.
This outfit performs some of the finest Canterbury-inspired music in recent times. You’ll find mesmerizing electric piano, majestic Mellotron, precious and beautiful synthesizer solos, dazzling organ work, psychedelic guitars, and masterfully designed time signature changes. Notably, the band delivers enticing dual keyboard interplay. Overall, you get the cutting edge jazz fusion elements and the lush symphonic arrangements and graceful elegance of progressive rock.
Alco Frisbass was founded in France in 2013 by musicians from Paris and Rennes. Essentially, it is a duo consisting of multi-instrumentalists Fabrice “Chfab” Chouette on keyboards, guitars, voice, recorder, whistling, percussion; and Patrick “Paskinel” Dufour on Fender Rhodes, keyboards, drum programming, and chimes.
Guests: Jacob Holm Lupo on guitar; Thierry Payssan on Korg Sigma synthesizer solo and Mellotron; and Archimede De Martini on violin solos.
