The renowned American progressive rock and southern fusion band Dixie Dregs will embark on a tour along the East Coast of the United States starting in April 2024. The lineup, consisting of Steve Morse, Andy West, Rod Morgenstein, and Allen Sloan, will be joined by keyboardist Jordan Rudess for these special performances. Additionally, eight new shows have been added in May, with a new performance scheduled for April 17th in Macon, GA. Opening acts will feature the Steve Morse Band, comprised of Steve Morse, Dave LaRue, and Van Romaine.
In 2018, the “Dawn of the Dregs” tour marked the return of the original lineup to the stage after a hiatus of over a quarter of a century. Six years later, in 2024, an adjusted lineup featuring Morse, West, Sloan, and Morgenstein, along with contemporary artist Jordan Rudess of Dream Theater, will once again take the stage. Rudess, a GRAMMY winner and one of the finest keyboardists of his generation, will bring his exceptional talent back to join his long-standing peers for an unforgettable celebration of music. The “Anachronicity Tour 2024” promises intimate performances, offering fans, both old and new, a chance to experience musical excellence and history up close, night after night.
Throughout their 40-year career, Dixie Dregs have released eleven original albums, along with compilations, reissues, and numerous live recordings. Their contributions have earned them six GRAMMY nominations. The band has collaborated with various notable musicians, including Jerry Goodman (Mahavishnu Orchestra) and Alex Ligertwood (Santana), with original members participating in over 300 releases, spanning projects such as Deep Purple, Kansas, Flying Colors, and the Steve Morse Band (Steve Morse), as well as Winger, Jelly Jam, and Jazz is Dead (Rod Morgenstein).
The band’s discography includes Free Fall (Capricorn Records, 1977); What If (Capricorn Records, 1978); Night of the Living Dregs (Capricorn Records, 1979); Dregs of the Earth (Arista, 1980); Unsung Heroes (Arista, 1981); Industry Standard (Arista, 1982); Bring ‘Em Back Alive (Capricorn Records, 1992); Full Circle (Capricorn Records, 1994); King Biscuit Flower Hour Presents (King Biscuit Flower Hour Records, 1997); California Screamin’ (Zebra Records, 2000); From the Front Row… Live! (Silverline, 2003).
Steve Morse had this to say about the shows: “This is a very special tour happening with the Dregs, featuring Jordan Rudess, and my trio, the Steve Morse Band opening up the shows. We’ve done one tour long ago with Jordan and were thrilled when he was able to take over with Steve Davidowski being already committed to a project. We’ll be adding many different tunes than our Reunion some years back, so this is the best time to hear the original instrumental rock band in action!”
