Tucker Brothers – Live at Chatterbox (self-release, 2023)
The Tucker Brothers recorded this live album at Chatterbox, a club located in Indianapolis, Indiana, which serves as the regular venue for the Tucker brothers’ weekly performances.
The set, spanning fifty-seven minutes, presents the group’s repertoire, featuring familiar tunes like Hoagy Carmichael’s “Skylark,” Juan Tizol’s “Caravan,” and Arthur Schwartz/Howard Dietz’s “You and the Night and the Music.” Original compositions such as “Shakshuka,” “Mantra,” “Away,” and “Rhythm Changed” are also included, although the composers remain unnamed.
Each member of the ensemble delivers an effective and engaging performance, with the Tucker brothers displaying particularly sharp skill, likely developed through collaborative practice.
The Tucker Brothers Group includes four musicians: Joel Tucker (guitar), Nick Tucker (bass), Sean Imboden (saxophone), and Brian Yarde (drums). Co-led by brothers Joel and Nick Tucker, the group, along with saxophonist Sean Imboden, are alumni of the Jacobs School of Music, with Nick having obtained his master’s in Jazz Performance at IU and Joel completing his bachelor’s degree. Currently, Joel is in the final year of his master’s performance degree at Jacobs.
