ESP Project – Reverie (2023)
ESP Project, helmed by the versatile composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist Tony Lowe, released Reverie in 2023. This remarkable album seamlessly mixes top tier symphonic progressive rock with cinematic classical music nuances, a bit of pop, and fusion elements.
The opening track, albeit my least favorite, exudes a light classical aura reminiscent of the stylings of Alan Parsons. Yet, despite its toe-tapping rhythms and vocals that may not resonate with all, it serves as a prelude to the true marvels that await.
As the album unfolds, Tony Lowe crafts intricate and textured keyboard orchestrations, intertwining them gracefully with superb, epic electric guitar lines that evoke the legendary Steve Hackett.
Not merely a collection of songs, Reverie is conceived as a Progressive Symphony in Seven Movements. Across just under 60 minutes of musical exploration, Tony Lowe leads as both composer and player of all instruments, guiding listeners through ever-changing moods and tempos, accompanied by his engaging guitar passages.
