Arild Brøter Releases First Single from New Album “A Spectre of Sounds: James Bond Music Reimagined”

Arild Brøter has unveiled “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service Suite: Part 1,” the first single from his new album, A Spectre of Sounds: James Bond Music Reimagined. This suite comprises four themes from the film “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service”: the main theme, “Gumbold’s Safe,” “Over and Out,” and the iconic “James Bond Theme.” The track features an electric, uptempo arrangement with numerous twists, showcasing Brøter’s innovative approach.

Renowned Norwegian guitarist Bjørn Riis of Airbag collaborates on this piece, bringing his deep understanding of Bond music to the project. The recording also includes contributions from Øyvind Brøter on keyboards; Oda Rydning on percussion; Mattias Krohn Nielsen on rhythm guitar; Filip Brekke Steigedal and Petter Lien on horns; and Arild Brøter himself playing drums, percussion, keyboards, bass guitar, and additional electric guitars, including the famous Bond riff.

A Spectre of Sounds is a groundbreaking album that offers new arrangements of classic James Bond film music. Arild Brøter, known from the progressive rock band Pymlico, presents an instrumental rock album that reimagines Bond music in an electrifying manner. Unlike many Bond albums that focus on title tracks, Brøter delves into the film scores, rearranging them into fresh, electric rock tunes. The album spans 60 years of Bond music, blending the sophistication of the original compositions with the energy of rock.

This project has been a long-time ambition for Brøter, a lifelong James Bond fan who has been captivated by the music from an early age. The album, a dream come true for Brøter, features 19 musicians, including Bjørn Riis of Airbag and Ole Michael Bjørndal of Caligonaut, as well as members of Pymlico. A Spectre of Sounds will be released by Apollon Records on September 6, 2024, available on double vinyl, CD, and digital formats.

Arild Brøter, born in 1987, is a Norwegian musician, songwriter, and bandleader. He has released seven albums with Pymlico, earning acclaim in the prog rock community. Brøter’s passion for James Bond extends beyond music; he is an avid fan who has deeply engaged with the films, books, and fan communities over the years.
