Dark Psychedelic Prog Band La Morte Viene Dallo Spazio

La Morte Viene Dallo Spazio, named after a late 1950s Italian sci-fi B-movie, creates a unique and immersive sound experience reminiscent of directors like Argento, Fulci, and Bava, combined with influences from Magma and Jodorowsky. This Italian mind-bending progressive rock quintet stands out with its free-form musical explorations, taking listeners on a journey through uncharted astral territories.

The band features a diverse lineup of musicians who combine Middle Eastern scales, droning theremin, and psychedelic guitars. Their flute player’s progressive and abstract style evokes a Jethro Tull-like presence in a surreal, Giallo-inspired soundscape. Their debut album, Sky Over Giza, released in 2018, is a synth-heavy journey filled with ancient mysticism and alien themes, earning them a dedicated following in Italy and internationally.

Moving forward, their second album, Trivial Visions, released on Svart Records, offers a distinctive listening experience. It mixes various soundscapes and ritualistic atmospheres, creating a vibrant and hypnotic effect with less interesting elements of black metal and other extreme genres. This album transports listeners to vast, dreamlike sonic dimensions, challenging conventional genre boundaries. La Morte Viene Dallo Spazio operates in a universe of its own, defying easy categorization as jazz, stoner-rock, psych-rock, heavy metal or progressive rock.

The lineup in 2011 included Melissa Crema on Theremin, organ, synthesizers, vocals, and lyrics; Stefano ‘Bazu’ Basurto on guitars, sitar, and vocals; Camilla Chessa on bass; Angelo Avogadri on flute and guitars; and Federico Rivoli on drums.
