EBB is a UK band with a new EP, The Management of Consequences, which was released in January 1, of this year.
EBB is made up of: Erin Bennett, who plays guitars and sings lead vocals; Suna Dasi, who plays synthesizers and sings backing vocals; Nikki Francis, who plays keyboards, Hammond, synthesizers, saxophone, and flute; Kitty Biscuits, who sings backing vocals, provides spoken word, and plays percussion; Bad Dog, who plays bass; and Anna Fraser, on drums.
The band states that this EP is a companion piece to the full album, Mad and Killing Time.
“Silent Saviour”, opens with some very excellent synthesizers and keyboards, before Erin Bennett sings, “The nameless roads we travel on, how they wind into the night. And we never question where ourselves we’ll find. Fill the need”. Female choirs, chimes, sax and other sounds fill the soundscape with a metaphysical force of peace and tranquility. Then, more stellar keyboards and synthesizers propel the sound to greater heights. A masterpiece of keyboard musicianship.
“Cost and Consequence”, picks up where the last song left us. Full force synthesizers, but this time, accompanied by flute, guitar, bass, drums and more. The soundscape is full of spacey music. Then Erin returns to sing, “Iryna burned her eyes staring at the sun, as a consequence, she’s living in the night”. A difficult lesson to learn, no doubt. But the Emerson-like Hammond keyboards will make a true keyboard lover’s ears “dance’ with joy. Erin’s voice is wonderful, but the keyboard playing here is off the charts. A Tony Banks/Keith Emerson-like extravaganza, for sure!
“Nieu”, opens with a Renaissance Faire sound, before those luscious keyboards return and take over. The drumming and guitar solos are immaculate; however, it is the keyboards and synthesizers that set this band apart from the others in the genre.
EBB’s The Management of Consequences, is a profound EP. I would like to hear more, for sure, when the final album is complete. But for now, this is a good helping of keyboards and synthesizers for any keyboard fan. If you are a fan of 1970’s level keyboard instrumentation, EBB’s The Management of Consequences, is the perfect antidote to what you have been missing: innovative new keyboard and synthesizer sounds and music. Please give EBB a listen. I think you, like me, will get hooked on their perfect and innovative delivery, of the music you love and used to hear all the time in progressive rock.
