Beyond Frequencies is a Swiss band, whose sound reminds me so much of Nemesea, from the Netherlands. Their new album, Everything I Am, is an enormously, innovative, metal music album, full of great lyrics and vocals. Everything I Am, was released February 20th, on Igroovemusic.com.
Beyond Frequencies is made up of: Blazy Flash, on lead vocals. Blazy uses only live musicians on each of her albums. Christoph Siemons and Fabian Zimmermann, provide production assistance on Blazy’s albums. A list of band members for Everything I Am, was not available at the time of this publication. Beyond Frequencies, as their press release says, “fuses different worlds of sound into a unique mix! Beguiling pop appeal, new wave elements and metal that shakes in the pit of your stomach, comes together and explode in a dazzling firework of sound!” “Since their debut in 2020, Beyond Frequencies has received a Metal Industry Award in the category of Best Music Video for “After Dark.” The song “Back Off” was also voted #4 on the list of the Hottest Songs of 2022. After the Global Pandemic, the Swiss act released their second album and finally took their breathtaking sound live on stage in 2023, when they accompanied Semblant on their European tour through eight countries”. “In 2024, Beyond Frequencies followed up with the EP Eye of the Storm. The title track is being played in Switzerland and Germany on stations such as Radio Bob, Rockland, FFH Rock, Rock Antenne, Virgin Rock, FM1, Radio 32, Stahlradio, and many more”.

Everything I Am, marks a significant metamorphosis for Beyond Frequencies, which is now coming to full fruition. The songs strike a more edgy tone than on the previous two albums, without losing their knack for catchy melodies. Fierce, fascinating, and with plenty of oomph, Beyond Frequencies is back stronger than ever! Zoo TV describes the band as Lady Gaga meets Evanesence!
Well, with that kind of introduction, we need to get in and experience and discover Everything I Am!
“Eye of the Strom”, opens the album, with sounds that remind me of some of my favorite Nemesea songs. Blazy’s vocals, emanating from a distant echo or sound chamber, before she breaks out onto the stage, and it sounds electric! Blazy sings, “We are going round in circles. Until we meet in the eye of the storm. Losing time and space. In a sacred place. Blown away by a force simply supernatural. Thunderbolts electric and magical. Light up the sky, the clouds are inflammable. Like a blazing flash we become unstoppable!” Yes, just like the album cover. This first track absolutely sets the table for the rest of this dynamic album. Over 3 minutes of power and encouraging lyrics, along with blasting guitars and thumping drums. Off to a great start. The supporting music video brings it all to life so well.

“Feel”, may be my favorite song on the album. The subject of the song focuses on the emotion, the human race seems to be losing the fastest, empathy or feeling. Blazy sings, “The beat of my heart is only half as strong. Whatever I do is only halfway done. The more you dare. The less I care. I wanna feel. Please make me feel. I don’t care if joy or pain. As long as I feel anything. I don’t remember what I’m looking for. Wherever I turn I have been before. The more I dare. The less you care!” Powerful lead electric guitar and bass support her, with the drums pounding out the song’s beat. The supporting music video has the band dressed in antiseptic white, addressing the lack of color or emotion. However, the band brings the video alive, with a great performance!
“Enemy Inside”, opens with Blazy singing, “Beyond imagination someone like you. Would throw the towel only half-way through. Nasty manipulation presents a lie. Made you believe it’s not worth a try. There’s a warfare in your mind. Fighting on the losing side. Throwing bombs in all directions. And your thoughts are running wild. Still digging in the blind. Who is breaking you?” A song about how we, are our own, worst enemies, when it comes to how we hold ourselves back with doubt. Blazy’s music video is another great video that shows in black and white, how we all struggle with that internal doubt.

“Barrel of a Gun”, is another of the best songs on the album. It opens with a very cool keyboard, then some fantastic percussion or programming sounds that continue through the song. Blazy sings, “Words are weapons, fully sharpened. They cut deeper than any knife. Leaving traces and nasty bruises. That can’t be seen, but they traumatize. Your words are cutting deep. But I don’t hurt. I’m starring down the barrel of a gun. Of a fallen stranger that you’ve become. I feel your pain grows bigger. I hold my breath; you pull the trigger. I’m starring down the barrel of a gun. Of a fallen stranger that you’ve become. A bullet in my brain. You can wipe me out, but it won’t kill your pain”. A song about how we hurt each other with words. Be careful what you say and how it might be taken by others.
“Everything I Am”, is the album’s title song and it is another one of the best songs on the album. It starts with a very Cure-like edgy guitar sound and powerful bass. The music video is well designed with a mysterious card and circus-like backdrop. At times, it reminds me of Tom Petty’s, Alice in Wonderland, themed music video for the song, “Don’t Come Around Here No More”. With the tea ceremony and visual effects, you get the feeling they might have been inspired by that video. Blazy sings, “I don’t know how it feels to be proud. The only thing I know is how to doubt. Everything I am. Everything I am. I don’t know how it feels to trust. ‘Cause every time I did it crushed. Everything I am. Is an illusion. I live in the shadows of myself. Wrapped in darkness I turn into someone else”.

“Hell Freezes Over”, has one of the most interesting and innovative sounds on the album. It sounds like a didgeridoo being played through a computer or keyboards. The sound is awesome. Blazy sings, “Where are my soldiers, sassy and loud. Acting like heroes nowhere to be found. Where are my fellows cocky and proud. Nothing but pretenders crash into the ground. Now the time has come the curtain falls. I carried the torch you could not bear. If it’s my last breathe I’ll make it burn!” The electric guitar work and drums are some of the best on the album. Easily one of the best songs on the album. No music video yet, but I have a feeling there will be one for this song soon. A song about being your own hero, I think.
“Man Down”, opens with far off guitars and Blazy singing. Then, she is out front, with blazing guitars. Another powerful fight song or anthem to keep going and make the most of your life. Excellent guitar, thumping bass, and drums. Blazy sings, “Is it hard to stride on the path of least resistance. Does it hurt your pride? See your dreams move into distance. You can’t steer your life looking in the rearview mirror. Don’t pretend your blind. She won’t change ’cause you forgive her. Take a look at what you’ve done. Now your final day has come. Man down on the ground. It’s too late to turn around”. Make changes in life before it is too late, is the moral of this song, I think.

“Rockstar”, is an anti-hero, anti-rockstar anthem. Blazy sings, “Who do you think you are? Some kind of a rising star? But you’re not glamorous. You’re just ridiculous. Your voice is but a fake. You don’t have what it takes. You’re simply not enough. You are nothing but a bluff. The only way to impress. Show some boobs, wear a tiny dress. Hell, no, this is not a song. No words, no melody for you to sing along. Hell. no, I don’t hit the tone. I am fake, nothing is real. I’m just a wannabe rockstar”. There is a supporting lyrical video for this song.

“Falling for a Lie”, the album closer, opens with a cool keyboard vibe, before the explosion of metal lead guitar, bass and drums blasts through. That cool keyboard sound continues throughout the song. Blazy sings, “Before the weeds grow tall. You gotta cut them out!” Another anthem about getting your life in the right direction.
Beyond Frequencies’ Everything I Am, is an excellent metal album to enjoy the music this band makes. It rocks and rolls like the music of the past. Blazy Flash’s lyrics are uplifting and the music is supercharged with well-played guitars and drums. Give Beyond Frequencies a listen and find out everything there are, and have to offer!
