Mechanical Precision: The John Irvine Band’s Final ‘End of Days’ Chapter

The John Irvine Band – Here Come The Robots! (self-release, 2025)

Here Come the Robots! is the eighth album by the John Irvine Band and the concluding chapter of the End of Days trilogy, a fascinating progressive jazz-rock sci-fi concept series. It is important to note that multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer John Irvine brings together various forms of progressive music. Indeed, he plays stirring, boldly inventive high energy instrumental music grounded in jazz-rock, with intricate progressive rock patterns and cutting edge synth-fueled, continually evolving electronic music elements.

This 2025 release pays tribute to the late Vangelis Papathanassiou, the influential and masterful progressive rock and electronic music keyboardist and composer who passed away in 2022. The End of Days trilogy also includes Scanning the Dark Horizon (2023) and The Starships Are Gathering (2024).

Musicians: John Irvine on guitars, keyboards, and bass; and Andrew Scott on drums.

Mastered by Andrew Rankine at Black Cave Recordings, Edinburgh.
Mixed by John Irvine at JIB Headquarters.
Drums recorded by Andrew Scott at Owl Shed Studios, Edinburgh.
