Swedish progressive rock veterans The Flower Kings have released a new single, Burning Both Edges, as a preview of their upcoming album Love, due out on May 2, 2025.

The album marks their 17th studio release, further cementing a career that spans over three decades and includes extensive touring and numerous live recordings. Love reunites original members Roine Stolt, Hasse Fröberg, and Michael Stolt, joined by relatively newer additions Mirko DeMaio and Lalle Larsson.

The band continues to channel the spirit of classic progressive rock, drawing inspiration from the genre’s golden era. Known for fusing pop hooks with highly creative symphonic rock as well as vintage sounds made with Mellotrons, Moogs, and phasing effects, The Flower Kings once again deliver a sound rooted in prog-rock tradition while remaining characteristically adventurous.

Roine Stolt describes the new song: “Burning Both Edges’ is another song from our album LOVE; We live in troubled times where stupidity and fear always seem to push us to yet another conflict, another war. LOVE could change everything, but we chose to burn the house down time after time. The world is indeed burning in so many ways — east, west, high, low, and yet we choose to follow leaders that are not fit to lead. This song is a piece in the puzzle, meant to be heard in a sequence and context that is our new album song-cycle LOVE.”
