The album cover for Maestro by Magic Pie features an abstract design. A lone man in a suit walks toward a spiraling tunnel made of fragmented red, blue, and white concentric shapes. A large feather, painted in matching colors, hovers to the right.

Pie in the Sky: Magic Pie Serves Up a Slice of Norwegian Prog

Norwegian progressive rock band Magic Pie has released a new single and video titled Someone Else’s Wannabe.” The track showcases the group’s signature blend of technical instrumentation, intricate vocal arrangements, and melodic flair.

The single precedes the band’s sixth studio album, Maestro, which will be released on May 16 via Karisma Records, available in CD, LP, and digital formats.

As with previous albums featuring vocalist Eirikur Hauksson, guitarist Kim Stenberg composed the music for Maestro, while Eirikur provided the lyrics and vocal melodies. According to Eirikur, their collaborative dynamic merges Stenberg’s progressive rock background with his own influences from heavy metal, The Beatles, and David Bowie, resulting in a distinctive sound within the prog-rock genre.
