Progressive folk band Strawbs will release Magic From the Moon on Blu-ray on June 9, 2025. Captured during their 40th Anniversary concert in 2009, the film features a career-spanning set performed acoustically and with symphonic backing, highlighting material from their 1969 debut through Dancing to the Devil’s Beat (2009).
Guest vocalist Sonja Kristina appears on four tracks, performing parts originally sung by Sandy Denny. The concert also includes a finale arranged by the late Robert Kirby, featuring members of the Royal Artillery Orchestra and the full lineup of Electric Strawbs: Dave Cousins, Rod Coombes, Dave Lambert, Chas Cronk, John Ford, and Oliver Wakeman.
Bonus features include an interview with Kirby reflecting on his collaboration with the band, as well as behind-the-scenes rehearsal footage. This marks the first home video release of the concert, previously only seen by the live audience.
