Veteran ambient electronic music composer Robert Rich returns with May We Find Our Way, a 95-minute album recorded in 2025 at Soundscape in Carmel, California.
While not a direct sequel, the new work shares conceptual terrain with Long Tail of the Quiet Gong (2024). However, it diverges in musical character, drawing on different acoustic sources and newly refined processing techniques.
Designed as “functional music,” the album aims to remain on the sensory periphery while offering depth for attentive listening. Rich introduces occasional dissonances, at times approaching stridency, not as dramatic tension, but as atmospheric counterpoints, “like shadows from passing clouds.”
The album was performed, mixed, and mastered entirely by Rich, continuing his hands-on approach to immersive sound design.
