Elsehow – Afterimage – Instrumental Edition (Projekt, 2025)
Elsehow, the project of Italian-Belgian composer Piero Delux, has released Afterimage – Instrumental Edition via Projekt, recasting his 2025 dream pop album Afterimage as a fully instrumental work.
The new edition removes Delux’s vocals and highlights the record’s foundation of layered synths, piano, guitar arpeggios, and immersive ambient electronic passages. The focus shifts toward the writing and production choices that underpinned the original release, emphasizing structure, harmony, and pacing over lyrics.
Drawing on ambient, neoclassical, and minimalist influences, Afterimage – Instrumental Edition functions as a parallel reading of the album rather than a stripped-down version. Piano figures and guitar patterns move to the foreground, while extended harmonies and slow-building transitions give the material a more spacious, meditative character.
Delux frames the release as a way to hear what was already present beneath the vocal lines. “Via this version, the listener rediscovers the album from another perspective,” he shared. “Without the voice leading the way, it becomes clear how much was already being said — quietly — in the spaces underneath.”
The project also adds a bonus track, “At the Threshold of Desire,” conceived as a companion piece to “Telekinesis” and inspired by the atmosphere and psychological tension of Tarkovsky’s Stalker.
